Compatibility is not a single score

Synastry compares two natal charts to explore attraction, communication, emotional needs, conflict patterns, and developmental impact. No single aspect proves that a relationship will last, and no difficult aspect makes love impossible.

Relationship quality depends on maturity, behavior, values, timing, safety, communication, and willingness to repair. Astrology describes patterns; it does not excuse harm.

Start with each natal chart

Before comparing charts, understand each person’s emotional needs, attachment style, conflict habits, and relationship indicators. A person cannot offer more relational capacity than they have developed, regardless of synastry.

Examine the Moon, Venus, Mars, Mercury, seventh house, its ruler, and Saturn. Then identify major natal tensions that may be activated in partnership.

Emotional and communication contacts

Moon contacts describe emotional impact. Mercury contacts show how thoughts and language interact. Harmonious aspects can create understanding, while squares and oppositions may require translation and patience.

Mercury-Neptune contacts can inspire empathy and imagination but may also create projection or unclear communication. Mercury-Saturn can support seriousness and reliability but may feel critical if handled poorly.

Attraction and bonding

Venus-Mars contacts often create attraction. Sun-Moon contacts can create recognition and complementarity. Pluto contacts intensify attachment, vulnerability, sexuality, and power dynamics.

Intensity should not be confused with health. Obsession, control, intermittent reinforcement, and fear of loss are not evidence of spiritual destiny.

Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto

Saturn can create commitment, endurance, responsibility, or heaviness. Uranus brings excitement and unpredictability. Neptune creates idealization, compassion, creativity, or confusion. Pluto transforms and exposes power.

Outer-planet contacts become most personal when close and connected to personal planets or angles.

House overlays and composite charts

House overlays show where one person’s planets activate the other’s life. Seventh-house overlays emphasize partnership; eighth-house overlays intensify intimacy and shared resources; twelfth-house overlays can feel compassionate, private, confusing, or difficult to define.

A composite chart treats the relationship as a symbolic entity. It describes the relationship’s atmosphere and developmental task, not either individual’s private feelings.

A healthy way to use relationship astrology

Use astrology to ask better questions: Where do we misunderstand each other? What does each person need to feel safe? Where are boundaries unclear? What pattern repeats during conflict?

Then evaluate observable behavior. Consistency, accountability, respect, consent, and emotional safety matter more than any compatibility indicator.
